My grandfather was George Michael Gaydos, he was born on April 16 1895 in Czechoslovakia.
He came to the US in 1911. In Jan of 1921 he married Helen Smore in Fairchance PA. On Nov 13 1940 George Michael Gaydos died in Brownsville PA. George Michael Gaydos had a brother Michael C Gaydos, and a sister Anna Gaydos. Michael was born on Feb 16 1884. I have no information on Anna. Michael C Gaydos married Katherine Demcoe, I don't have a marriage date. Michael was a barber and he died on Jan 5 1956 in Peerth Amboy NJ, Katherine died on Jan 7, I don't have the year, in Woodbridge NJ. They had 5 childern, Dorothy, George, Vivian, Edward, and Charles. They would be my second cousin. If anyone knows or is related to anyone in this message please e-mail me at sggaydos@dandy.net. Maybe we could exchange information.

My Great Granpa Andrew Gaydos born in Czechoslovakia in the late 1800's I haven't found the dates on him yet. He married my great grandma Anna (Hankovcek) (born in 1867) also in Czechoslovakia, the exact spelling of her name we're not sure. They had 3 children born here in Illinois. They were Michael, John and Anna Gaydos. I'm sorry I don''t have more information but if you can email me with your email address so as I learn more I can write back. I'm sure somehow we may have a connection. Thank You for your time an information. Renee Madrigal

MY FATHER'S NAME WAS ANDREW. HE WAS THE ONLY SON IN THE FAMILY AND HE HAD FOUR SISTERS: ANNA, JULIA, MATILDA, AND VIOLA. I DO NOT KNOW WHERE THEY LIVED WHEN THEY FIRST ARRIVED IN THE U.S. I DO KNOW THAT MY FATHER TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO LETTER "Y" IN THE CHECH ALPHABET AND THAT HIS LAST NAME WAS ORIGINALLY SPELLED: GAJDOS MAYBE THAT MIGHT HELP WITH YOUR SEARCH...

Surnames: gaydos metro mikita
I'm looking for the name of the man who married my Grandmother's sister - her name was Mary Metro , and she married a Gaydos. They had at least two sons --- Albert and Emery, Emery was a war hero in WWII, was killed at the landing at normandy (a brave parachutist!) - and I've lost the line. I'm not sure what Mary's husband's name was or if Albert ever married & had children. Mary could have lived in Pennsylvania or near Gary Indiana at one time.

Hello,

I just received a copy of my Grandmother's death cert. and her mother's maiden name was Gaydos. I don't know if she came to the US or if she stayed in Czechoslovakia. My Grandmother was born around 1884/5 I don't know when her mother (Anna) was born, it only says Czechoslovakia. I too would be interested in any information. Thank you.

The records I found showed that Anna Gaydos (her maiden name) was from Czechoslovakia. She was my great grandmother which would make her alive around 1870's or so. I don't know if that will help or not.

I am researching my surname of Fendya (if anyone has information, please contact me). In the process, I came across an obituary for a distant relative of mine who married Mary Gaydos. Michael and Mary have a surviving son, grandson, nieces and nephews. Don't know if I can help but we can try.
