Surnames:

My maiden name was Gaydos, I was born in Chicago. The old county spelling was Gajdosh from Czechosiovakia, my Grandfather's name was Peter and had 7 kids in Chicago, all are deceased now except for their children, which I know my first cousins and am trying to get to know my second cousins. He married Veronica Zramba from Yugusiavia. I now live in Florida and the rest of the family is scattered all over. I have one Aunt though marriage that is the only one left with a little of the family history. My name is Geri, really Geraldine, but I hate that name. Do not know just how common Gaydos was in the old country, but my father told my HIS father changed the name from Gajdosh to Gajdos to Gaydos. You knows, maybe there are more of us out there. I do not know if my Grandfather had any brothers. Good luck in your search.

GAYDOS/GAYDOSH in English is GAJDOS^ in Slovak.
Surname GAJDOS^ in 1995 in Slovakia in these locations:
http://slovniky.korpus.sk/?w=gajdos&c=hcf3
SK's phone book www.zoznamst.sk but too many listings for the phone site to bring up.
Birds of a feather fly together. How sure are you that Veronica ZRAMBA was from Yugoslavia? Maybe her surname was ZAREMBA?
Have you tried locating some US documents on your ancestors to give you a precise place to start your [re]search?

My mistake, looking at her Citizenship papers , she was from Czechoslovak. My family is from both countries and I sometime mix them up. I can not fine my father's birth certificate, that is where I got the spelling of her last name. You may be right.

It is the naturalization intent and petition that will have her precise place of birth. You most likely have her naturalization certificate as there only a name of a country.

You do know that you need to backtrack from yourself going backwards locating documents on each generation.
What you know about Peter?
When did he come to America? Which port?
Was he naturalized citizen? Did he have social security numbers? If he married in US than the church he was married in would have his place of birth on record. You might want to look into the first child's church baptismal.
You might look for his draft registration form.

You need to provide some information about Peter in order to help you further. I do not have a paid subscription to Ancestry.

Out of all seven children, I only know that they were born in Chicago. I do not know were in Chicago or which hospital. I do not know where they got married.
They only thing I know about Peter is that he was my grandfather. Both my father's parent died before he married.
My father is not the oldest, but he was born in 1919. My aunt mary is the oldest,I will contact my cousin to see if I can get info on her.
I do not believe Peter was became a citizen, only my Granmother did which where I got some of her info.
Thanks for the info, I will see what all I can get from my cousin of my aunt Mary.

Do you have your father's church baptismal record? His SS-5Form http://ssdi.rootsweb.com would have his place of birth and parents names. Your father's church marriage record should also have his parents names and place of birth.

When did Peter come to America?
