I know that my great-great grandfather Andrew Gawell was from Poland but does anyone know if Gawell is a Swedish name?

Realy. Name Gawell have roots in Sweden. In town Gavle living more people with this name. After great war Poland- Sweden in XVII century in Poland stand by more soldiers and other citizens from Sweden I am living in town Warszawa, and have ancestry document from 1914 year ( 90 years ago).

Ok I have a Jakob Gawell who had two brothers, one named John the other unknown. Thier fathers name was Martin Gawell and mothers name was Maria Rzasa. Do you have these names in your family tree? Please get back with me if you do. Jane

In last time i exploer in Nattional Archive name of son an daughter Gustav &Anna Mazileites( Mazulai ): Clara Amalie Caroline Gawell born 3.dec. 1885 death 12. dec. 1885 Gawell Oskar Eduard born 10 feb 1888, death Viena (Austria Europe) 1955 Gawell Emma Anna Martha born 15.juni. 1889

Its ok. I was told that Maria married another Gawell after Micheal died from a logging accident. Don't know the other Gawells first name.But they had a son named Vincent or Vicek Gawell after her 2nd husband Gawell died she married a Gunia any of this sound familiar? Thanks for any help. Jane

Gawell is as far as i know a Swedish name. If you want I can give you my uncles e:mail or web page. He has done the whole research about the family in Sweden.
