Twila, John Gaw has several documents for lease and re-lease of lands he witnessed for other land owners in Pendleton and Greenville District/Cos. He also served in militia in SC, Claim #28 and Audited Account for his services. He was paid 111 pounds, 15 shillings and 1-1/2 cents for his services as a soldier during the Rev. War. He served as an indentured soldier and that is verified in Order Book O, pg 430 of South Carolina's RW files. The land deeds he witnessed for others is dated 1775-1779 or as late as 1781. Contact me and I have more information to share about his 2 sons Thomas and John Jr. and his wife, Violet, who remarried shortly after his death! I am also on line with 40+ Gaw descendants and I am looking forward to your reply. Jean Gaw gawbuck@swbell.net
