Gavin/Gavan Family, Coxhoe Durham

I am trying to track the relatives of my father John William Kenyon who was born at The Pottery Coxhoe on 8th May 1929. His mothers maiden name was Bridgette Agnes Gavin and she was born on 2/2/1896. She was married to William John Kenyon. and they lived in Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire.
My father died a few years ago and had lost touch with the Gavin family who I assume still live in the Durham area.
I would really appreciate any information and especially if the Irish connection could be made as all I have on the census for Bridgets father is born in Ireland!!
Many Thanks
Sue

Hello Sue,
I've just read your post and I am also related to the Gavin family by Marriage, in fact I've sent you a letter through ancestry, before I read this post.My uncle Bernard Kelly married Elizabeth Ann Gavin of the Potteries, Coxhoe. Bernard was Gassed in WW1, came out of the war, married Elizabeth Ann Gavin in June 1920 and then died on 1/1/1921, having left his wife pregnant with his child, who he never saw, the baby boy was born on 26/3/1921 and Elizabeth Ann Gavin called him Bernard too. Bernard is alive and well and has just celebrated his 90th birthday. He is living in Oxford and has 3 daughters and 1 son, I have just telephoned his daughter, but she is out for the evening, but will ring me tomorrow, so if you can email me a reply to this I can pass your email address on to her and I'm sure she will be able to answer your questions. I'm on the Kelly side, but Elizabeth Ann Gavin was her grandma, and the sister of Bridget Agnes Gavin, so I'm sure she will know about the Gavin family.

My email address is winnie.scothern@sky.com

I have a picture of Elizabeth Ann on my Kelly Tree as she was my uncle Bernard's wife, Bernard was my mam Theresa Kelly's brother, another brother Martin, also lived in Coxhoe, my Mam was the youngest of the 9 Kelly children.

Look forward to hearing from you, then I can pass the message on for you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
