I am researching my wife's paternal ancestry. Her great grandmother is Louisa Gokey-Beaupre. Louisa's parents are Joseph (b. ~1845) and Mary (b.~1847) Gokey. Louisa's marriage cerificate has Mary's maiden name as "Smith", but it's hard to read. I have found Joseph, Mary and Louisa in the 1900 Saint Albans, Vermont census (ED166, Page 7A). They immigrated from Canada in 1884. In the 1881 Ste-Stanislas, Champlain, Quebec (Page 41) I found Joseph and Marie Gauthier (same age and first son has same birthday). Does anyone have any information on whether this is the same family?
Thanks!
