I found your entry when searching Cecile Breaux. I think the house my husband stays at when he works in Abbeville has Cecile's grave marker behind it, and it says Charles Gaudet was her spouse. Based on too few DNA results there is now a question of Charles being the grandson of (4) Pierre & Anne Blanchard.

We know of Charles' marriage to Cecile Breaux based on a civil lists of marriages at Cabanoce Bourgeois p 171-172.
Rita please check with your buddy at the archive to see of the new archivist has started a search for the folio of loose sheets from themissionary/ circut rider?

We know Charles has a brother Jerome from baptisimal of son Jerome 28 sep 1775 spo Jeromme, uncle of child.

I could not find Charles (& Jerome) at Ft Beausejour or Halifax. What book has the Ft Edwards prisoner lists? Could they have joined the group during the ship change at St-Domingue?

I will take ANY additional details you may have.

Someone asked about the possibility of a different Jean Gaudet & Marie Breau. Anyone have any possible canidates?

Gaudets in Digby & Yarmouth Counties, Nova Scotia

I recently added 499 Gaudet descendants from Digby and Yarmouth Counties in Nova Scotia to my Gaudet Genealogy web site at http://arslanmb.org/gaudet/gaudet.html. My search included the 1838, 1861, 1871, and 1881 censuses, as well as the birth, death, and marriage records from 1864 to 1881 (plus some later death records).

These Gaudets were descended from two brothers:

Joseph Gaudet (#23115 in my database), married 1756 or 1757 to Anne Gertrude Leblanc

and

René Poncy Gaudet (#23116), married before 1769 to Felicite Comeau

They were both sons of Pierre Gaudet (#2311) and Marie Belliveau, who were married in 1720 at Port-Royal, Acadia.

I'd like to hear from anyone descended from these families and would welcome any additional information (especially from primary sources) or corrections.

Take a look on my web site at the description of the Gaudet DNA Project. We need representation from direct male Gaudet descendants (those carrying the surname) of each of the "pockets" of Gaudets through North America and France. This will help us (eventually) to link to our relatives in France and to determine what genetic markers identify the various branches (a great help to genealogy to fill in the gaps due to sparse documentation prior to the mid-1800s).

Im trying to find info on my great great grandfather Fidele Gaudet. He was born Jan 1877 (according to the 1911 census of PEI)He was married to Rozalie or Rosele they had 3 children. My great grandmother Antoinette Gaudet born july 1906 born in PEI. Charles Gaudet abt nov 1909, and Delore Gaudet born May 1911...The family moved to Maine, then from there Antoinette and Delore lived in Lawrence MA. I know there were relatives still living in PEI in the early 80s and some in Lawrence Ma...Please help if you have any info

Pierre (the oldest) and Pierre (the young)both married to Anne Blanchard in 1672 and in 1675 ??? Would you have a confirmation of this in your records? Below are Denis Gaudet 5 children

I'm sorry I have not been on here for awhile, the book I have made are about my own family from Quebec and I am a descendant of Jean Gaudette and can not put it on the web.
Isable Laronde was a Algonquin Indian and Married Francois
Xavier Gaudette which is my Great Great Grandfather, I went back a little further than that and still working on it.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with some info. I have been trying to find out my family line on my fathers mother side. She was a Gaudet. Her fathers name was Marcel Gaudet born March 29,1892. Marcel was married to Elisa Bergevine who was born September 22, 1886. I have only been able to find the names of Elisa's parents but not Marcel's. Not even sure if he was born in the USA or Canada. They had 6 or seven kids together I know that.There was Leo Gaudet, Pauline Gaudet, Irene Gaudet(my fathers mother)Ernest Gaudet, and the others i'm not sure on. I do know that Pauline never married at all and Irene Gaudet married Francis Minutoli. Irene was born November 23, 1915. Any more info anyone has would be great. Thanks very much.

My Gaudet family originated in Acadia and went from Acadia to Massachusetts in the late 1800's. It doesn't sound like we are very closely related. My grandmother, Parmaline (Brodeur) Gaudet had a sister who married a Berube in Fitchburg, but I don't know her name. Good luck in your search!

I am also interested in the children of Pierre 'dit l'Aine' Gaudet, b 1652 at Port Royal, Acadiè, Canada married to Anne Marie Blanchard, b 1645 in Acadié, Canada. Of their ten 10 children one was Augustin Gaudet, b 1686 at Port Royal, Acadié, Canada married to Agnes Chiasson and settled in Tintamarre. They raised 13 children one of whom was Paul Gaudet, who I believe is my ancestor. Does anyone have any information beyond this?

Jason, I think you read too much into my message. I'm not, repeat not, writing a Gaudet family history. My interests are more general. I'm looking for anecdotal information about 18th Cent. Acadia as a setting for a fiction novel. I read from Joyce's message that the book she is almost finished is a book dealing only with her immediate family.

It is interesting that several respondants are so negative about "history of your name books". Several years ago my wife bought me what she thought was a subscription for the "Gaudet Family News" as a birthday present. It turned out to be an address listing from a telephone directory search, and my name wasn't even listed, though she was.

Regarding geneological information, my only contact occurred years ago when I came across Ron Gaudet's webpage, which seems to have disappeared. Does this mean all that information has been lost? Isn't there a copy of the web page somewhere?

For many reason, I always shiver when I hear that someone writing a book on our family. Too many times these books take the place of good old research. And good luck trying to discuss with the author that his/her printed material has some questionable items, especially since it's now printed. I met a fellow once that told me I shouldn't waste my time research the Gaudet name since he wrote a book and could sell me one for $15. I declined but others bought. The worst end of the spectrum would be buying those "history of your name" displays from a stand in the mall. I don't mind sharing information with other researchers but I guess I'm too cautious when the say they want to write a book about Gaudet history.

He completed medical school at the University of Viriginia just prior to the War Between the States. He returned to Louisiana and is listed In Booth's on the rolls of the Orleans Guard in 1861, but no further information is indicated.
