My wife's family name is Gauci.
Most of her family are in Cardiff, South Wales, UK.
The paternal side originate from Malta.
Her grandfather's name was Joseph and he was a seaman
who moved to South Wales from Malta.
I am in the process of collating as much information as possible about
him, but would like to know if there is any one in Malta who
can assist me with my quest to crreate a full family tree.

Hi my Grandfather was a Joseph Gauci a seaman from Goza/malta and we were brought up in Cardiff.
He died in January 1962, my brother was called Joseph after him being born 1/2/1962
Joseph was a bookmaker having a few betting shops in the docks area of cardiff, which my dad took over, my dad was salvatore (Sam.
Joseph is buried in Cardiff cathays cemetery with 2 infant sons. I think there were 3 daughters Dolly (Dolores) Gloria and Mary ( mary has lived in Malta on Goza since the WW2)
besides my dad there were several boys Tony, Frank, Mike, Joey - there may have been others but I can't remember we weren't that close. I think the 3 women are still alive as well as Frank

cheers Nicky

Hi all

I am also a Gauci, and I am desperately trying to find any information on my fathers parents. Dad is nearly 80 and he would like to know any information that I can find. I have only started this search, but this is what I know.

Dad. Lawrence John Gauci born 15 feb 1933. Dad lived in Tiger Bay Cardiff, until his parents separated ( I think he was about 6 yrs old). He went with his father to London, although I am not sure, but he tells a story of hiding from the bombs being dropped on London during the second world war. His father died in 1950 and Dad moved to Australia.

Mother: Rhoda Matilda Gould. Born 1900?
Father: John Gauci Born 1900?

I think dad mentioned an uncle Salvatore today, but again I am not sure. And as we all know a name like John Gauci is a common name and hard to isolate.

I have a feeling that my grandfather was also a merchant seaman or something similar, so the previous posts seem like a possible lead, although I have never been to Malta or Cardiff so I am not sure if this is a common occupation in these areas.

If these dates, names or events mean anything to anyone could you please let me know

Many thanks
Michele Gauci
