I am searching for others researching their German Gauch roots.
My line consists of Michael Gauch (d.1849) m.Angelica Bermes (b.1796 d.1865) Their children are Jacob, Louisa, Charlotte, Christian, Fred, Elizabeth and Lena.
I believe they are from Einselthum, Bavaria.

My mother's maiden name was Gauch and my ancestor was
Christian Gauch, born in Albisheim 9.2.1794. His father was
Johann Peter Gauch. He married Maria Elizabetha Wendel from Russingen on 8.11.1816 They had 3 children, Johannes
13.9.1817, Johann Jacob 1.08.1819, Christian Ludwig
31.10.1821 all born and registered in Albisheim. Maria died
within a year and Christian remarried ,Elizabetha Reis(Ross)
2.11.1823 in Albisheim. This union produced Maria Magdelina
1.10.1824, Phillipina 3.2.1826, Phillip Adam 1.05.1829 all
born in Albisheim. They emigratred to the U.S. in 1833-34
a child was born on board ship named Georg and the last
child Henry was born in Conn. By 1838 they hada made
their way to Bellville, Il. where they remained. I have found them on the 1850 census in Belleville. I am trying to obtain
Christian's naturalization documents right now. Hope this
helps your research.

Do you know any information about Christian's father, Johann Peter Gauch and his siblings? The area in Bavaria is where my people are from, also with the names Johann and Christian in the family. Could Johann Peter possibly be brother to my Carl Gauch d.1849,married to Angelica Bermes b. 1796?

It appears your Christian (not Peter) and my Carl may have been brothers... Hopefully I will get the chance to go to the LDS genealogy library within the next week or two, and see if I can obtain records to support the theory.
