My husband's last name is Gasca Rojas. He is originally from Vista Hermosa, Guanajuato in Mexico. It is between Romita and Irapuato. Almost every person there is either Gasca or Rojas. They are taller and lighter skinned than most Mexicans. Most of them have very distinct, thick black eyebrows, but this may be from the Rojas side. These traits have been kept within this region for generations because, I am sorry to say, marriage between cousins or uncles with nieces, was (and still is) considered in poor taste, but not forbidden.
