My grandmother Juana Espinosa from Guanajuato MX. Her father was Policarpio (spelling?) Gasca. She described him "barba de ejlotes" (hair was blond). He didn't like his father , a cruel man, so took his mother's last name of Espinoza. My grandmother told my uncle that Gasca was Sephardic (spelling???again!!!) Jew.

Hello,
if your mother came from Guanajuato, then you might know something about Juana Gasca, born in the late 1800`s. She moved to Mexico-City and married a Trejo.

My grandmother says that her GrandFather was Joseph Gazca - He was from a Jewish community that settled in Guanajuato, MX- she says that during the Revolution many of the jews were killed becuase the locals found out they were marrying within famlies to keep the jewish blood.
Our family is Velez-Torrezcano - they converted to catholic belifes probably out of fear.. Later on they became born again christians and were outcasted from the rest of the family. again probably out of fear.
