i'm looking for information on my grandfather's parents. my grandfather was born in guanajuato, mx. and his mother fled the country to the us after her husband was killed in a revolutionary squirmish.
it seems that when my maternal great grandmotehr came to the us from mexico - the immigration people couldn't understand her when she said her last name was "gasca" so they listed her name as "garcia".
i don't know much about her families history and i'm trying to do some research i do know that my maternal great grandmother was named juana - and her mother was mercedes. one of them was a gonzalez - because when my grandfather's other siblings came over - that was the last name given to them.
my great grandmother and her family settled in laredo tx.
does anyone have any knowledge of this "lost" gasca family?

Hello.
My paternal great grandmother was Juana Gasca, too. And she same, so far I know, from Guanajuato. Maybe she's the same Juana. She lived from 1894 through 1987, much of the time in Mexico-City, married with a Trejo after a Solares (maybe it means something to you).
I'd like and thank some information.
Nils
