Seeking to establish contact with any descendants of William Garvey Nellie Hay[e]s, who m. on 26 Sept 1882 in Saline co, MO. Believe William to be a brother to my grandmother, Bridget Delia Garvey who m. William Henry Avery in K.C. MO in Sept. 1881. Unfortunately, our families lost contact in early 1920s. Would like to correspond and exchange geneal. info. Will answer. Thank you.

My Grandfather was Jesse Garvey. His Father was (I think!) william. There were several children (11?) the timing and location are right. He lived in Leavenworth KS. Did William move to Minnesota? or do you know. I am looking for information on Seth Homer Garvey, Obadiah Garvey and their connections.

I'm not sure where the William Garvey family moved to. Possibly some went to St. Louis later. Does that tie in with yours? We lost them when Delia Garvey(his sister, I think!) and her husband William Avery moved from Saline county MO to Garnett, Anderson co, KS in mid-1880s. Do you know what William Garvey's wife's name was? It is given as Nellie Hayes on the birth records we found in Saline co, MO - and their marriage record shows her as Ellen Hays. (Nellie was a nickname for Ellen back then.) We have info on their first couple of children, prior to the move by Garvey/Avery grgrandparents. If you think this is your family, and that we are related, I'd be glad to exchange info with you. Let's keep our fingers crossed that we are related! Thanks for responding.

My maternal garndfather was Harry Otis Garvey.

Harry was born in Leavenworth KS and died in Albuquerque NM in January 1967.

Harry served in World War 1 in France. I do not know his birthdate or age at this time.

Until about 1962 he was a life long resident of Leavenworth.

Social security death records incorrectly list his date of death as 1970.

Obediah Garvey was the father of Seth Homer Garvey. The mother of Seth was Mary Hale (Polly) Sutherland.

Seth Homer was born 18 July 1855 in Bedford, Lawrence County, IN. Seth died on 2 November 1946 in Phillips County KS.

Seth was married to Janetta Jane Post on 4 October 1881 in Phillips County KS. Janetta Jane was born 30 January 1865 in Jackson County IA. She died on 19 February 1955 in Clay County NY. The father of Janetta was Peter Post.

Seth and Janetta had 4 children. The children are as follows:

1. first name unknown Garvey born about 1886 in Graham County KS.

2. Ray Hugh Garvey born 2 January 1893 in Phillipsburg, Phillips County KS. Died 30 June 1959 in McPherson, McPherson County KS.

3. Della May Garvey born 8 May 1884 in Platte River MO. Date of death unknown.

4. Grace Garvey born 13 June 1884 in Graham County KS. Date of death unknown.

Obediah was born about 1845. He was the son of John W Garvey and Mary Winifred White. John was born in about 1820. Mary was born in about 1824. Obediah was the first born of 8 children.
