JACOB GARRETSON (6) b.11-6-1755
Rev War Pensioner, enlisted 9-1776 in New Jersey in militia, and served at Brandywine and Valley Forge. Sailor on schooner HAWK. He was captured and spent a month on a prison ship, then exchanged. He is then on crew of MORNINGSTAR/ After 3 months he was captured again and taken prisoner for 9 months on a prison ship at Charleston, SC. This time he escaped and lived a fruitful, pioneering life.
He married Millicent TOMLIN 10-21-1784 in NJ and had 12 children, then moved to New Albany FLOYD IN. He died 4-16-1836 and buried on his farm in Galena, INDIANA. His wife Millicent was born 11-5-1768 and outlived Jacob, dying 10-26-1854. Their children, (7): all born New Jersey.
