I am reserching my family history, and on the Garlick side I have Francis James, who was the son of another Francis who was the son of another Francis who was born in Somerset abt. 1803 or 1811. In 1881 he was farming 500 acres in the parish of Boxwell and Leighterton, Gloucestershire, with his son Charles, age 27 who was born in Brokenborough,Wiltshire, abt.1853 and died 1934, and Nephew William Joe Garlick, he was 20 and was also born at Brokenborough.
The Francis from Somerset, I have been told, also had sons Daniel, Born 1848 at Alderton who died 13/1/1892 age 44, Giles born abt. 1852, died 1918 and Francis Smith Garlick. I do not have enough info on him but he had a sons, Daniel John, who died of TB, and Francis James who married Elizabeth Jane Long,a widow (Knight) of Kingswood She was farming 160 acres at Horsley (Chavanage) in 1881 with her two children, Susan Jane, and Frank Edward. Her Husband had died of TB in 1879. Frank Edward was my great grandfather and married Anna Bennett Comely.
There are also family conections to the Newent line, through Giles who had a son Joe, and to Garlicks who farmed at Beverston Castle.
