I am trying to find descendants of Confederate General Franklin Gardner. He was born in 1823 at NY, was West Point educated, fought in the Mexican War, and was a Confederate general during the Civil War. Gardner was noted as the Rebel commander at the Battle of Port Hudson, Louisiana, and died in 1873 at age 50 in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Are there any descendants of him still out there?

My father strongly resembles him.
