I am researching the Gardner family of Williamson County, Texas. On the 1880 Census the head of household is George W. Gardner.
His son, Elijah J. Gardner, was born in 1846 in Mississippi, was a farmer, married, and he fathered a son named Theodore Gardner.
I believe Elijah "Lige" Gardner was a gunfighter. He was noted in a book titled, "Pages from a Worker's Life" by William Z. Foster. It stated Gardner killed several men.
The youngest brother was Thomas Jefferson Gardner. He was a cowboy and was part owner of the HAT Ranch in Johnson County, Wyoming. Tom Gardner was described as being a "remarkable man from many angles."
Does anyone have any old photographs about this Gardner family?
