I'm trying to identify the family of William Gardner, b abt 1794 in New York. He married Lena Muma in Columbiana, Ohio in 1815. Thence to Canada West, where many, if not all, of his children were born. Finally to Ionia, Michigan in 1841.

There is speculation that he is the son of John Gardner of Columbiana, Ohio, but I don't know. John was born in Pennsylvania, and that leads me to believe he is not the father of William born in New York. But it isn't impossible. John's wife is Christiana.

The history of Ionia County in an entry for William's son, Sydney, says William also was the 'High Sheriff' while he lived in Canada. I know nothing more.

If anyone knows where William was from and who his family is, I'd love to hear from them.
