Karen,
Thanks for clearing up this mystery. Do you think the detah certificate for Harriet Isabelle Holt could have mis-stated the maiden name of her mother?

You wrote that post a long time ago, but I will respond with how I am handling a similar search for origins of HUSK family, who also settling in Mono. Cty. area.
It is my understanding that land patents were granted after an application was received. The application was necessary for most. I just happened to have called the land record office today. They told me that patent applications were originally held in Harrisburg, PA, but may have been sent back to the relevant counties. I have someone working on this.
It is my hope that the application required information about the current address of the applicant.

I have Zachariah's parents (I did not record the course of this information) as Stephen Gapen, b. 20 Nov 1709 in London, Middlesex, England, m. Mary Gawson about 1730 in NJ, d. 2 Jun 1748 in PA. Mary Gawson, b. about 1711 in England, d. about 1740 in Philadelphia.

Please excuse typo, this should have read:

Larry,
Thank you for reply. Info you posted was likely from data gathered by Mel Gapen. It comes from Gapen family oral history (Mary Gawson married possibly to Stephen Gapen, possible father of Zachariah, but no marriage certificate has ever been found so far) and from a death record for a Stephen Gapen in Philadelphia. It is also based on research of English records, which included attempts to identify a Stephen Gapen, who has been thought to be the father of Zachariah.

Dear Sir, Believe it or not I just found your kind reply. Forgive me for being remiss in my acknowledgement of the same. I have been too busy to do addiional genealogical work but am still vitally intersted. I would like to document a connection, if there is one, between Zacharian and the Gapen's who were in Mass in the 1630's. Can you supply your email to me at Prosphora28@hotmail.com? Thank you, GB Gapen
