Thomas Gapen, Rushville, Ill.
Does any one have any info on this family?? 1900 and 1910 list my gf as living with them as a grandson. His name was Harry Rowland. Maggie Gapen was a dau of Thomas and Isabel. thanks!!!!!!!

The name Gapen is a family name. They married into the Dever line out of Marshall County IL. The Dever line is a long line going back to pre revolutaionary timee. The particular line which actually help to establish Marshall County IL producted a few lawyers, one of which, whose first trial whose apposing lawyer was none other than Abraham Lincoln. A couple e were also served as IL State Senators.
John and Hannah Cuberly - Dever had a Mary, who married Benjamin Ferut and their daughter Sarah married Charles - who was born in 1808. They had William, Washington, Mary and Timothy -- of course -- all Gapens living in IL.
This name is not very common and more than likely ties in to this line. I stem from the Dever's

Does any of your Gapen info include a Frances Gapen born about 1909 who married Levi Sellers about 1918?
Levi Sellers, is my great grandfather and Frances was his second wife. I am having trouble locating info on both of them.
I would appreciate any info you have that might relate.

Charles C Gapen, b. 1808 Mapleton, PA d.1898 Lacon, IL married Sarah Feurt (Fort) b.1812 OH d.1856 Lacon, IL. She was the daughter of Benjamin Feurt (Fort)and Mary Dever. I am descended from Charles C. Gapen's son, William T. Gapen b.1833 OH d.?
Would like to hear from other Gapen family researchers.

It's been awhile since I was in that file.. but I descend from the Dever's who daughter married in to the Gapen family. I have a Gapen Cousin I corrspond with.
