I don't have those records here at home. I've been swamped with work right now. As soon as I get a chance I'll look it up for you. If I remember correctly They married somewhere around 1923. I believe it was in Wisconsin. He was a lumber jack & traveled alot.

Hi, The only Frank Gapen that I or my husband know of is his grandfather. His dad was born in 1925. So, the Frank your referring to cannot be the same. I wish I could be of more help to you. Good luck!

I just read the interesting story of John Gapen and some of the names were familiar, (Swope)so I looked in my genealogy papers for that side of my family and I couldn't believe it! I am a descendent of the people listed in your story. Im from David Sycks and Ruth Gapen. They had a daughter named Hannah who married James Adams, and I am descended from that line. Ruths parents were John Gapen and Sarah Swope. Johns father and mother are Zacariah Gapen and Ruth Tindal. Zacariah was born in NJ, and Ruth Tindall in Greene Co PA.
Now I would like to ask for any other information you might have such as similiar stories like the one I just read and any other pertinent information about this family. In fact, being descended from the union of Ruth Gapen and David Sykes makes me eligible for membership in the early pioneers of Monroe Co Ohio.

Re: Lewis Gapen Info for Barbara
I am wondering about the connection between the Freelands of Greene County, Pa., and the Gapens. They seem to have much interaction with them both in Pa and later in Ohio. Do you know of any intermarriages?

I have some info from my work on the Lazzell family. If interested let me know.

Frank William gapen Jr. is son of Frank William Gapen and Zelma Baker. I suspect he was estranged.
