Wondering if anyone knows of Louis Gaouette,
married to Athenaise Plante, his father is Julien Caouette. Julien's parents were Joseph Marie Caouette and Charlotte Coiteux.
Louis had a son Remi Caouette, lived in St Hyacinthe
or Ste. Rosalie. Louis had several children, all baptized in St. Hyacinthe. He went on to Wotton, was the founder of the Colony, but most of his children stayed in Ste. Rosalie.

Am looking it up, many of the Gaouette's were originally Cahouet or Caouet or Kaset. Many places to look.
I am trying to write a book on the family history, it is a very big family.
Why don't you e-mail me at ccaouette@portal.ca
Would appreciate hearing from you and may be able to help.

I am the grandaughter of Alphonse Caouette, born in Quebec. He married Delvia Charbonneau (nick named LaRouge) he passed on in 1959, and my grandmother passed on in 1994. Are we talking of the same family? I would like more information on my family as we were not involved with his siblings at all. Please if someone could give me some information, I would appreciate. Does Theresa Gold Mine ring a bell? He founded that when I was a baby.
Thanks
Marielle

Marielle, I'm sorry I just saw your posting. Sometimes these forums get neglected in all the e-mail that we all deal with.
Anyway, I'm intrigued by your question, since I haven't been able to find much about Alphonse, beyond what I do know.
He would be my great great grandfather, and according to records, married Margaret McCollum b.Ireland .
They married in Clinton, MASS in 1893. His certificates show his last name as Gaouette, however, but as we both know, thigns didn;t always stay the way they were handed down as far as names.
Seems as though I've been on the LaRouge family site before, so you never know..
I'll try to make a connection if I can find one..
Well, hope to hear from you.!!
Rich

Hi Rich;
Thank you so much for responding, eventhough it has been delayed. I do have a lot of information that I can send you, but would like to e~mail it directly to your personal e~mail address, and not through the board. There is family going back to the 1600. And that is off the top of my head. My grandfather (Alphonse) would have had his birthday today. So thank you so very much for your letter sent on his birthdate.. I do know that my greatgrandfather remarried after his first wife died, and if i remember, (from stories my dad told me,) she was American. I also have I believe a couple of pictures of my greatgrandparents, and of course of Alphonse and will scan them for you. Please if you are interested forward me your address, and I shall forward you mine, and we can compare notes. Alphonse was married to Delvia (LaRouge was her nick name). I really hope we are talking of the same people. Hoping to hear from you.
Marielle

I also have a picture of "Alphonse Gaouette".
I wonder if they're the same...things seem so sketchy back then.
PS. my birthday is today! :-)
