Re: ANYONE WITH THE LAST NAME GAONA
I was born and raised in Southern California, my full name is Saul Gaona Jr.. Both of my parents were born in southern California as well, my fathers parents (Mardoqueo Gaona & Elpidia Gaona) are from Jalisco Guadalajara, Mexico. The surname Gaona is such a unique name, that out of these 21 years of my life I've only met one other kid growing up who shared the same last name as me. His name was Alejandro Gaona and we both grew up in Paramount, California. My father is the only son from my grandparents, and I have younger brother (Samuel Gaona). In my family tree of Gaona men my Brother and I are the only two left to carry on our last name.

Re: ANYONE WITH THE LAST NAME GAONA
Hello Saul, my David is David Gauna. I'm from Victoria, Texas. The last name comes from Spain. It may be spelled Gaona or Gauna. Both originate from Spain. I can't locate my family form the past because the names were misspelled. We're from south Texas which is about 125 miles from Houston, Texas. Good Luck!!!!

Re: ANYONE WITH THE LAST NAME GAONA
Hi Saul,
I am also having the same trouble, I have only met two people with the last name Gaona in my family, however I have met several family members with the last name Gauna. Most of my family came from Cadereyta, Nuevo Leon. I don't know if this may help, but my cousin told me when my Great Uncle immigrated to the US the person who processed his papers mispelled his last name GAUNA, so thats why half my family is Gaona and the other half Gauna.

Re: ANYONE WITH THE LAST NAME GAONA
Hi Julieta, my father is Ruben Gaona Esquivel. My great grandfather is from San Pablo, Galeana, Nuevo Leon. From what I understand they once owned land in Coahuila, Zaragoza and Coahuila, Zaragoza. Let me know if you are still searching.

Hey I'm from Texas as well and I'm a Gaona. It's honest so so crazy to hear that they're more Gaonas out there because you rarely hear that last name. It's very unique last name.

Re: ANYONE WITH THE LAST NAME GAONA
Hi Elizabeth,
I too have family in Monterrey, some of the Gaona side does live in Texas, as I communicate with some of them!
My grandmother was Ma Dolores Gaona, her parents were Jose Gaona and Gregoria Torres, Jose had numerous brothers and sisters I believe. They mostly lived in Cadereyta, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Re: ANYONE WITH THE LAST NAME GAONA
I got my last name from my grandfather. His name was Francisco Gaona. And he lived in Mexico. Other than that I don't know where he came from or where he got his name.
