hey gary!

my family also resides from the ganas household. so here is the deal on what I know. the 'yannas' family used to reside in mikanos. Funny enough my geneology on my mother's side also dwelt within dublin, ireland. While immigrating to the states, our descendants replaced the 'y' with a 'g' due to pronounciation... and dropped the extra 'n' due to convenience.

Anyway,
From the research i have been able to gather, our name was originally greek nobility dating far back to the point of establishing ancient greek democracy and socrates himself!

Cool, right!?!

If you're interested in more information of OUR history, let me know.

P.S. Yannas or 'Ganas' means "to live" in greek as well as meaning "you win" in spanish as well as meaning "recieve dowry" in hindi (indie)

Peace be with you, fellow Ganas,

Nicholas Ganas

The name Ganas is quite common in Polen where my family comes from. Several of the Ganas have emigrated to the US but I have not been able to trace them. So, just a bit of warning you might need firmer evidence to state that you are Greek by origin it might be Polish
