Hello, my father was from Lithuania, his name was Izaak Ganas, he came to England in l948 and had two aunts, one was Minnie and the other was Ada. One of them had a daughter named Lilly, still living in London, England. Any info would be gladly received. We thought we were the only living Ganas left. Please reply. Thanks

hey!
my family also resides from the ganas household. so here is the deal on what I know. the 'yannas' family used to reside in mikanos. Funny enough my geneology on my mother's side also dwelt within dublin, ireland. While immigrating to the states, our descendants replaced the 'y' with a 'g' due to pronounciation... and dropped the extra 'n' due to convenience.
Anyway, From the research i have been able to gather, our name was originally greek nobility dating far back to the point of establishing ancient greek democracy and socrates himself!
Cool, right!?!
If you're interested in more information of OUR history, let me know.
P.S. Yannas or 'Ganas' means "to live" in greek as well as meaning "you win" in spanish as well as meaning "recieve dowry" in hindi (indie)
Peace be with you, fellow Ganas,
Nicholas Ganas
