Hello Paulette!

I'm getting the info that my dad & uncles collected on the Gallegly's.

I'm also taking some Genealogy classes through my local library -- my 2nd class is this coming Saturday.

I'm slowly going to work on building the family tree here (as I've already started it) with the information I have.

I also have a photocopied version of "Our Family" by Iva A. Peterson from December 1965. It was addressed to my grandpa. I'll gladly make an electronic copy and email it to you. Feel free to contact me with your email address.

-Bianca

Rhoda Gallegly

I have found information that James LeFan's wife was Rhoda Gallegly. I do not know if this is correct. James LeFan came to SC on a Bounty ship "The Nancy" in June 1767 from Belfast, Ireland and received a Land Grant.

In Laurens Co SC deed book C 12/28/1785-3/16/1789 James LeFan & wife Rhoda sold 100 acres of land on Branch of Little River. Wit: William Gallegly also I have found deed that states Joseph Gallegly and James LeFan's land bounding.

Any comment would be appreciated

Back when I was younger (about 20+ years now, I think I was 8 years old) I remember my dad looking into a Family Crest/Shield. It was to be a gift to my grandparents (painted onto a tire cover for their RV as they traveled alot).

No one in the family (here in MI) knows where it's disappeared to.

So, I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a drawing or representation of such a thing?

Thanks and I hope this stirs up a bit of talk!

-Bianca Gallegly

Lesley,
Sarah Cummins Gallegly was the Aunt to Winnie Cummins Gallegly. Sarah's brother James Cummins was Winnie's father. Sarah and James were brother and sister. Sarah's Cummins Gallegly married Joesph Douglas Gallegly in 1785, Guilford County, North Carolina. Sarah and Joesph had an only son Stephen born in South Carolina 1795. Joesph died in South Carolina. Sarah and Stephen moved to Tennessee to live with Joesph's father Gordon in Wartrace. Sarah never married again after the death of Joesph in 1804.
Winnie was born in 1797 in South Carolina and had moved to Wartrace with her father after her mother died. Supposedly in with Sarah and Stephen and Stephens grandfather Gordon. Stephen and Winnie were married in 1821 and had 7 children.
The Sarah Cummins that married your William Gallegly is probably not my Sarah Cummins Gallegly. I have a census that states she was still living in the household in 1840 and 1850. Sometime from then on she died because she is not on the 1860.
Thanks
Jeff Gallegly
JMGallelgy@aol.com

PS : Do you know who Winnies mother was ? Do you know where any of these people are buried ?

Hi, I am related to the winagers thru my 3rd great grandfathers brother Joesph gallegly "gallagher". for some reason years ago joesph changed his surname to gallagher. joesph was born to the same parents as my 3rd great grandfather elias hamilton gallegly. where the winagers come into the tree is when joesph's daughter sally married oscar winager. sally and oscar ran a store in wartrace.

Jeff Gallegly
JMGallelgy@aol.com

I think you are related through your mother to the Gallegly's but I am not positive. I have a Mary Myrtle Winegar who died in 1960 in Bedford Tn who was married to William Gallegher whose father''s name was Joseph Gallegly. I know a little more about this family if you want to share some info. Send me an email directly and we can share some files. I also have a bunch of Fletchers that are indirectly related to Gallegly's we could discuss.gabgolly@aol.com

Found this message after sending the other. The "Guitar" Gallagher's are my cousins someway. I think they were related through the Winegar side of my family. Our family has one of their instruments. If is awesome! My father purchased it from his cousin years ago. If you have knowledge of the connection between Winegar and/or Fletchers and Galleglys, please respond.

I am also related to the Gallagher's (Gallegly) of Wartace. They are cousins but I am not sure how. If you can help, it would be appreciated. My grandfather was Joshua Fletcher Sr. of Bedford County, Tn. b. 1897 d.1977. His parents were Edwin and Matilda (Winegar) Fletcher. What is the origin of this family? I am having a difficult time getting information. I do know that the family now go by Gallagher but was originally Gallegly.

Well Gallegly's, I guess I am one of you. I recently discovered by gg grandmother was Frances Elizabeth Gallegly, born May 30, 1859, possibly in Tennessee. She married William Harrison Jett, born May 26, 1913, in Stewart County, Tennessee, on Dec 22, 1859. I am trying to uncover who her parents were and something about their origin.
My line goes like this:
Frances Gallegly married William Jett
Mary (Molly) Phillip Jett married John Frances Broaddus
Annie Mae Broaddus married William Bate Marable
Finis Marable married Marie Duff
Jane Marable (me) married Danny Bowen.
I would certainly love to hear from anyone who can point me in the right direction to trace my Gallegly roots.
Jane Bowen
7 Becky Dr.
Hazard, KY 41701
606-439-6076
JaneMarableBowen@aol.com

It means--fierce warriors for the mcdonald tribe!!
Thats what i was told anyway at a Gallegly re-union in texas at glenda gallegly's
anyway, enough gibberish. keep in contact, i'll find the papers,
and let u know exactly where we fit in...

David Tamplin
