Hello, Sarge, and thanks for writing. Were you in WW II? My dad was...he fought in the Pacific for four years. Anyway, regarding my Gallagher ancestor, I can tell you that her name was Mary Sabina Gallagher, she was born around 1830 in Ireland, and she immigrated to America in 1850 (this per the OH Census). She married a Prussian immigrant named Johann Josef Mueller (Miller), a laborer by trade. They attended Holy Cross Parish in Columbus Ohio, although I know they were not married there. They had three children for whom I have names: Baby Carl (died in infancy about 1870), Frank J. (died in his 30s, 1912), and my Great Grandmother Marie Ella Miller. Ella married John Charles Schneider, cousin of the Schneiders who were jewellers in Columbus. (About five children in that Schneider line followed religious vocations.) I wish I could find out more about Sabina and her husband. It is sad not to be able to honor her life's struggles. I've checked most all the Columbus Catholic parishes (around German Village), The Ohio Historical Society, Catholic Record Society of Columbus, Franklin Co. Historical Society, etc. with no luck. I appreciate anyone's thoughts or ideas on where else I might look for info on Irish immigrants to Columbus. Thanks in advance for your help.
