Hungarian links to the name Galajda?

I have recently been researching the name to find any possible people with this surname, and have found quite a few in the States. My family was all born in Nyiregyhaza, Hungary, but my grandparents left for england in 1956, and so this is where i grew up and live. I have been to Hungary numerous times, but am yet to meet anyone with the name Galajda. I cannot trace my family any further than my grandfather's grand parents, and so do not know the origin of the name, or my family.( I have found information indicating it may be Slovakian.) I am interested in any information anyone has about the name Galajda, especially if they can trace their ancestry to Hungary. Any information would be hugely appreciated.

I recently married into the Galajda family, so I don't have much information yet. But, my husband has told me his grandfather - Nicholas (sp?) - was from Hungary. I believe Nicholas was born in Hungary and immigrated with his parents to Canada. Nicholas met his bride in England while in WWII and she actually came to Canada (Ontario) and lived with his parents until he was able to come home from the war. I am not aware of any of this particular family line in the U.S. - yet - that is until my husband is able to immigate here to the states!

Any info would be great or if there are any questions, I will start "digging" soon. Good Luck to all,
Anita
