Currently researching the Galaida family from Camden, New Jersey. Would like any information as to the nationality of this surname.

The Galaida name is from the country of Ukraine. I know that they immigrated from there to Wilkes Barre PA where there is still some descendents. I don't know if they are relatives or not. I am also a Galaida.

I was searching for surname Galajda/Galajdova Maybe we have same roots. I`m from north-east Slovakia (before Czechoslovakia). My grand grandmother immigrated to the U.S.A. aprox. in 1900. She was from village Certizne. She came with friends with surname Barna, Zozulak.

Renata...I know that my ggrandmother came to the U.S. around 1885 (maiden name was Covach). Do you know where your grandmother settled in the U.S.? There are several different spellings to this surname )Galaida,Galayda,Galajda etc,)....Barbara

She settled down in West Virginia and I found my father`s cousins there. Surname Covach is known in Slovania as Kovac in Eastern Slovakia in Medzilaborce, Humenne, Koice, Michalovce and small villages.

Galajda are in my family from West Virginia
I have a great uncle Andy Galajda who came from Wendel West Virginia. His father married a Mary Churilla from Columbia Mines, West Virginia. They were both from Slovak. Do you think there is any connection?
