Hi, Christina. My grandfather, WILLIAM GEORGE, came to Pennsylvania from Poland-Lithuania in 1900. Family name was something else then, maybe Gajauskas, Gajewski, Gajowski. He followed and probably lived with his brother SAM, and worked the coal mines. WILLIAM had a newphew, JOHN GUSKY, b. abt. 1904. Don't know where these guys lived, but I have a photo of SAM taken in Vandergrift, PA.
Slim chance, but maybe your John?

Since my last post, I've received a copy of the marriage license and death cert for WILLIAM GEORGE GUSKY, but he signed the marriage license as GAYOUSKY. On the 1910 census, he's listed as "RUSS - LITISH", but on the 1920 census as from "Poland" and mother-tongue as "Polish". I'm aware that Poland and Lithuania were very intertwined in those days, but...
I dunno. Gajewski = Gayousky?

I am looking for relatives of George Gajewski (1867-1944) born in Poznen, Poland which is near the German border. He came with his wife Frances Frankowski (1887-1919?) to Toledo, OH around 1890. They had 8 children: Andrew, Anna (Dzienny), my grandmother Frances (Skowronek), Antionette (Anna Koniechy), Steve (Sam), Mary (Futey), Joe, and Frank. I have no information about George Gajewski's parents, I can only assume they were from the same region of Poland. I do not know Frances Frankowski's fathers name but her mother was Josephine Wisniewski. Any information from those of you who have much more experience at this great adventure would be appreciated. K. Skowronek Weber

I have just started to research my husband Gary's family tree. His grandfather was Anthony Gajewski (later changed to Nearman) from Ohio. He had a brother, August, who went to PA. So far that's about all we know pertaining to August. However, in my research, I did come across a few other people researching Gajewski, including a young man from PA. If you are interested, please contact me and I will be happy to share my information. Kathy gkczuba@concentric.net

My grandfather was Michael Gajewski (later changed to Geske) he was born in Scranton, PA in 1902 and died in Brooklyn, NY 1968. He had a brother named John who also changed his name to Geske. I have no dates for him, but I believe he was also born in Scranton. Their parents names were Anthony Gajewski and Kathryn Kostzewski no dates or places on them either. Please let me know if this info makes any connections. barbaraw@cheerful.com
