I was hoping someone local could help me solve a 92 year old mystery. I am trying to find my Great Grandmothers grave ZOFIA ZAJAK GAJDA burial place. She died giving birth to my Great Aunt. She was married to Frank Gajda on Feb 9th 1914 in Passaic county. I have their marriage certificate. I found her on the 1920 census living on pacific and morris st. in Garfield. Their name is spelled Gaydos. sophia , they were both from Poland and worked in the woolen mill, oral history says she died giving birth to my great aunt Apolonia, Feb 23, 1920. Frank took the children and went back to Poland for his mother to raise. then he returned and lived two more years there and married Apolonja or Aneila Konefal at Holy Rosary Church. Around 1922 then moved to Cicero, Chicago. They were Roman Catholic and I have Frank and Zofia's wedding picture and a picture of my grandfather Stanley on Pacific Ave in Garfield about 1918. I can not find where Zofia Gajda is buried. she was born in 1890 in Galicia Poland came to Passiac NJ in 1908.I have had NO luck with vital statistics, If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it, This really is a 92 year old Mystery! Ive was hoping there might have been a Polish paper for Garfield around 1920? ****UPDATE*** Found death certificate for her , named spelled Sophia Gida, she died FEB 7, 1921, in Garfield, can not make out the name of the burial place, looks like St Peters Cem but not sure...Still hunting for her final resting place in Garfield NJ.....

I suppose GIDA said by an English speaking person would come out as GAJDA to a Slavic speaking person.
Have you contacted the church the ancestors were married in and the children baptised? The church should have a precise place of birth.
