I am looking for anyone who has any information regarding any families with the last name Gaj. My grandmother came over from this area in 1914, and I am trying to locate information about her heritage.

My great grandfather, Andrej Roszkowicz, married Frances B. Gaj. Frances married Andrej in the states in 1912/13 and she was born on May 13, 1891 in Galicia. Frances Gaj came over to the US in 1912. Family verbal history states that she was born of a father of some standing (Mayor???) in the Galicia provence. Unfortunately, this is all I can find right now. If you have any additional info, please let me know.

Thank you for the information that you gave me regarding your family history. I will have more information about my grandmother next week. I know she immigrated to the US about 1910 out of Hamburg. Her name was Anna and her brother was John. She lived in Manhatten for a short time and then moved to Vermont where I believe she was an Au Paire. She settled in Pittsburgh where she lived for the rest of her life. I am going to a family reunion this week and will get more details.
Please keep in touch.
