I am married to a Koesters who is a descendant of Frances Geier (Gaier) daughter of Charles and Anna Schmackers. Charles is the son of Charles and Christina Kirsch Geier (Gaier). Charles is the son of Ferdinand and Appolonia Siegel Gaier. Mostly from the Mercer Cty, OH area. I would love to get more details on the lines that have been missing for years in the family history I have learned from my in-laws. Ferdinand and Charles (son of Ferdinand) are brothers. Please let me know.

There are a few researchers of the Gaier.Geyer,ect. spellings and the Schmackers,Seigles, Siegles, ect. about. The most recent of the contacts has been with Takers441@cs.com. Another is HPPYBDY@Bright.net or something like that. This "Takers" mentions that there has been a recent visit with an elder Gaier in this Shelby County , and or Champaign or Mercer county area. Should have some more info.
I can begin with Ongler Maria Angelica Schmackers, d/o Gerherd Henry Schmackers, who came from Bremerhaven in 1853 on the "New England" to NewOrleans, to Cincinnatti, Co Dayton, Ohio, where whe met up with one George B Bauer from the same area in Alscasce-Loraine/France/Germany in and or about Byron and Hanover. They married Jan 10,1855, at Emmanuel Catholic in Dayton, O. Raised 8 children and in in 1870, moved north to Uno, Ohio, in Shelby County. Their daughter Rachael Bauer b 7-21-1865, m Ferdinand Gaier, 10-17-1881. Ferd s/o George and Josie (Applonia?) Siggle Gaier d/o George & Catherine Siggle: children Gatrot, Jacob, Caroline, Valentine, Charles, Magdaline, Catherine, Elizabeth, Ferdianand, George, Joseph??? Has to be more siblings of Ferdinand h/o Rachel, about. Or there really is, according to rumor more than one family involved. As for the Schmackers, Have a list of this famimly(s) as well. It begins to get complicated here. Have another good researcher with data but will keep that address off this web. Contact me at Bar5@Bright.net and I will act as a go between with my cousin as an introduction. Ralph Aaron Bauer

I am also looking for Ferdinand Gaier (b. abt Oct 1809, Baden, Germany) m. Apoloma ? (b. abt 1826, Baden Germany). They immigrated to Ft. Loramie (Berlin), McLean Township, Shelby Co., Ohio about 1852. Their children were:

Valentine, b. abt 1846, Baden Germany

I have the Gaier/Geyer down line, The Descendants of George Gaier b abt 1780, Baden, married Josephine.Their 9th child, Ferd first married Katherine Seigel, 1838 and second Appolonia Seigel 1845. The children of Katherine use the spelling Gaier, The children of Appolonia use the spelling Geier. Couple stories about that. I have put into it the descendants of Ferdinand of Dec. 31, 1858 and Rachel Bauer from the descendants of Bauer George B and Ongler Maria Angelica Schmackers of abt 1810. It is loaded here. Many pages in Word. Will forward. Would like to compare your info. Ralph A Bauer. I live a couple mile south of where UNO was.

Have just started researching Gaiers/Geiers in the Shelby Co. and Mercer Co. OH areas. My great grandfather Charles Geier b.1848 d.1921 buried St.Henry,Mercer Co married Christina F. Kirsch b.1853 Troy,OH d.1919 buried St.Henry.
Children: John Ferdinand Geier b.Sept.3,1873 d.Sept.30,1958
m. Mary Gels b.1878 d.1971 (his 2nd. wife)
both are buried at St.Henry,OH
Mary b.1875 d.1923 m. Joseph Naseman
Bernard b.Jan.12,1878
Charles b. Aug.12,1883 m. Anna Schmackers
Elizabeth b. July 30,1886
My father told me that his grandfather Charles and another brother moved to Mercer Co. from Ft.Loramie and spelled their name Geier while the others in Ft.Loramie were Gaier. From my research I strongly suspect that Charles was the son of Ferdinand and Appollonia ? Gaier. Any info will be most appreciated

I have the research of many of this family. There are a couple stories about the name spelling. The correct one appears to be that there were two sisters, the first whose children spelled their name Gaier and the second's children used the spelling Geier, at least for a while. Then some of the 2'nd siblings changed their name back to Gaier.
Soon as I am sure I have this computor rebooted and working will send the many pages to you on your own address. Unles you want it snail mail.
You can see some of my original research by calling up (Bauer, George B.)
Give me a day or two. Ralph

Uno. Where bouts in Uno? Was it at the SW section of the crossroads of Patterson Halpin and 705. Believe George and Mary lived on the NW section if I read the maps at the Courthouse Annex right. Where was the old horse racing track? Ralph

Miles I wonder if you could answer a question about Shelby Co. OH. I see where you said you were from Uno so thought maybe you might have an answer to my question. My ancestors came to Shelby county about 1875 the first child born in this country was said to be born in Berlin Samaries OH. Now I know ft. Loramie was known as berlin but untill what year? and have you any idea where or what samaries was. Also her mothers name was Susanne Gaier from Neudorf I believe her spouce was Heinrich Bodemiller/Bodenmiller/Bodemueller/Bodenmueller any help would be appreciated. Thanks John Brinkman
