My grandfather, Otto John Gaidies, came to US from Essen, Germany in early 1900's. Otto had a brother, Carl, who went to Brazil.
I would like to find a manifest/passenger list of ships that might contain information. My father was a child, Emil John Gaidies, b 1902, who came here from Essen with Otto and Marie Gaidies. Also trying to find information about Carl Gaidies who went from Essen to Brazil. There are a number of Gaidies in San Paulo, Brazil who we think may be descendants from Carl (who became Carlos). There were four Gaidies brothers, Otto to U.S., Carl to Brazil, and perhaps two stayed in Germany. Contact me at joyce@nwinfo.net.

Hi Joyce;
Have latched on to your Message Board. Will check periodically for updates. Good idea. Let the power of the web do some of the footwork.

Hi Joyce,

Been doing a lot of research in my family line and my wifes also. Ran across this obscure entry in the Vital records for Nashua, New Hampshire, though I would pass it on for what's its worth.

In the Vital Birth records there's listed twin girls born to Peter Gaides from Lithuania and his wife Agnes Chesnolawitch from Lithuania.

The twin girls are: Annie Gaides and Rose Gaides born on December 14th,1923. I realize that the I is missing in the name but when records are taken, everyone is at the mercy of the individual taking the information especially if they are from a foreign country.

The record also indicates that the girls are the second and third child born to this couple. This means there's another child, the 1st born. That record is not on Nashua.

I noticed that you mentioned that there were four brothers.
Then listed only two.

Good Luck
