Looking for possible links to Honora and Luke Patrick Thomas Gaffey. Born in Ireland 1799 Some if not allof their children were baptised in Ahascragh/Killosolan Elphin Diocese Galaway Ireland. Most migrated to New York and many generations of Gaffeys continued with large families. Any info appreciated. Let me know if you think you have a connection or would like more detailed information.

There are two Michaels in my line during that time period. Michael Gaffey born October 2, 1865 in New York City. Son of Dominick Gaffey and Mary O'Loughlin. I have no idea where he wound up or who he married. His parents were born in Ireland but I do not know where.

The other Michael Gaffey was uncle to the above Michael and brother to is father Dominick. Michael Joseph Gaffey was born around 1839 in Ireland. He married Sabina Gaffey Nee Laff? and he died June 16 1882.If you find a connection, please let me know.

All I know is that my Michael lived in New London.CT in the late 1800's. Not sure where he was born. had at least one daughter named Mary Abigail who married a John R. Mahoney in New london,CT. He owned property and died by the early 1900's because his wife is listed as widow in city directory.

I'm sorry to say that I can't remember whether I responded to you or not. I believe a woman named Mary Gaffey C--- did communicate with me and her Michael was in Boston. Mine was in new London CT late 1800's-I think he died 190- and left his wife Bridget behind. His daughter Mary Abby Gaffey was my Great grandmother. Ring any bells? Let me know. Thanks.

Surnames: Gaffey
My great grandfather James Gaffey was born abt. 1824 so Honora and Luke Patrick Thomas Gaffey born 1799 could be parents of James. He may have emigrated abt. 1865 and was in the 1870 census as married , naturalized with two children(3 and 1). Our family lore says he was disowned for marrying a servant girl (Mary). Any connections?

Hi

I was looking for general information today on family surnames.
My mother was Margaret Gaffey and her father Edward Thomas Gaffey was born in Galway, Ireland. He moved to England early 1900s and then to Wales around 1920. I know that he had a large family and that one of his sisters moved to New York - I know her family there but was not aware of any pre Gaffeys moving any earlier. One of my uncles is studying the family tree and so I shall enquire with him. I would though imagine that we probably are connected if both families camefrom the same area.

Will keep you informed.
