My family name is Gaddes and we are in British Columbia Canada. We are always interested in finding more Gaddes' out there, there seem to be very few with the same spelling. Would be interested in any reply!

Surnames: Gaddes and Hodgson
Just newly logged on and have read most of these threads on Gaddes. My Maternal Grandmother's maiden name is Gaddes she was born in Crosby nr Carlisle on the Scottish/English borders, her name was Katherine Hodgson Gaddes (also known as Trixie) she came from a fairly large family and her sister Margaret Gaddes emigrated to Canada many many years ago. My Grandmother and her mother and grandmother and family are all buried in the cemetary in the Church at Crosby. The Hodgson (Nana's middle name) was her Mother's maiden name. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has any info whatsoever as I am just starting the family tree. Thanks.

Hi Sharon, no linked I'm afraid our family originally came from Cumbria and are all mine workers. There are no David's in our line at all. Good luck with your search, it was very exciting to get an email.
God bless, Angela x

Hello,
I have not checked this bulletin board for so long, but I am excited to have had some response. It's probably best to contact me on email and attention it something like 'family history' or the like.

Richard and Angus Gaddes (brothers) came to Australia in the 1800's? and apparently after Richard died, Angus married his widow, so the story goes.

I am desperate to find 'any' Gaddes people in Europe to start piecing people togther or at least to be able to get perspective on the family name etc etc.

Please email me mp05@uow.edu.au

I would love to hear from anyone..
