Don't know if your Gadberrys are related to one I'm trying to find. My gr-aunt Ella Suter married a Gadberry in the early 1900's in central IL. She was born late 1800's. This is all the info I have.

My great-great grandmother was Mary Ann Gadberry, who married a man named (last name) King. My grandfather told me she was Cherokee. He has passed away, and few in the family know much more than that she was supposedly one of the ones on Trail of Tears. One of her sons, my great grandfather, was Joseph Wylie King. Would love to know more about her family. Possibly from Kentucky or Tennessee.

Okay: would you check and see if she was married more than once. Or when she married this man named king because she could have been married to a man named Burnett. After 1920 I couldn't locate her anywhere. I have a story to tell you if you are interested which goes along with the Indian theory; a little different but she would have went on the trail of tears.

For Darrel Nelson;
I am not sure if she was married more than once, and am very interestd in the story you have of the Indian connection and the trail of tears. I did find, in the Guion Miller Rolls, her signature alongside the row upon row of Kings named there. She had signed it 'Mary A. King'
Sincerely,
Lou Ann

Lou Ann: evidently your maiden name is chamberlin right? So what was your maiden name and who were your parents? Also; do you have a certificate or something with Mary Ann Gadberry (King) together as husband and wife?
QUESTION: How do you know her name was Mary Ann GADBERRY ?????????

Also how do you get to the Guion Miller Rolls to see her signature there?

My connection is she is my Great Great Grandmother also.

Oh I forgot did you see that message about Gadberrys in missouri

Darrel;
No, chamberlin is my married name. I was a Bachman at birth. My mother is Charlene Elizabeth King. She is the one who told me of my great great grandmother, and we have one original picture of her. She married Wiley King from Benton Co, Arkansas, which is just across the stateline from the Nations of OK. One of their sons was Joseph Wylie King, who was the father of my grandfather, Chester Wiley King. Grandfather Chet (Chester) told me many stories of the Indians in our family, life with them, etc. E mail me personally for some of them, also instructions for how to get to the Guion Miller Rolls online. Sounds like we could be cousins?

Lou Ann; how do you know that is the right Mary A. King on the Guion Rolls? It says Mary A. King from Tennessee. But I was wondering if that was the right one. Have you seen her individual indian card which will go into detail??
Let me know please?

I believe your Mary Ann Gadberry married Wiley King who was a brother to my great-great grandfather William "Bill" King. Mary Ann is buried in Bloomfield Cemetery, Benton County, Arkansas. It is 2 miles west of Gentry to Cripps Road, then 1 mile south. She is in row 1, plot # 3. She is next to their son, William A. King, born Dec. 22, 1869; died Feb. 16,1873. I'm trying to find more information on the King side of the family. Please e-mail me at theri@home.com
