We pronounce our name Ga chauck but it is interesting that you pronounce it Ga Ci Ock. We have another family in town that pronounces that way. They are probably closely related to you. The patriarch of that family was Stanley Gacioch.

we were all residents of st. louis, mo. i really know nothing of my grandfather except he spent much time in prison, but i don't know why. i know there are many relatives of mine in st. louis that i do not know. my dad had an uncle casimir gacioch who died around 1997 or so. my dad passed away january 11, 2006. if anyone can help me find information about my family, please let me know. i'm not even sure how to pronounce gacioch, but have been thinking of changing my family name back to it.

I do not have a website. My grandparents lived in Scranton, PA after immigrating into this country in 1904. They moved to Wyandotte, MI in the 1920's. Do you have any grandparents that lived in Scranton, PA or Connecticut? When did they come to this country?
Any or all of this information may be helpful in locating the brothers and sisters of my grandfather.
Thanks
Tom Gacioch

Hi Tom,
My grandparents names John "Gotchwalk"or Gacioch , they spelled it both ways, and Matilda (Tillie) Wasiak from Warsaw, Poland. I believe early 1900's. They came together and had one son, Stanley. In America they took the name Gasher, but signed official papers with the other name. I think any one with this unusual name would in some way be related. They had about 12 children of which my mother Sophia was one. They settled in California, Pa. Not sure how this fits in. My grandfather had a brother who was in the russian military? I have copies of his papers but cant read since they were in russian. He had a dtr named Helen Kuzio who recently died at the age of 90's and lived in florids. Her father sent letters to an H Gacioch in Fayette county Pa, in 1903. If you think these are connected, I could send you copies. There were three bros, my grandfather, helens father and an unknown. I have heard that there were relatives in Wisconsin and Chicago. The plot thickens. Let me know if this rings a bell. Good hunting. Carol Stark
