I am the grandson of Ludwig Gach. My father was Stanley. He grew up in Glen Campbell, Pa. my dad was born June 13, 1917 and passed away a few years ago. I, my brother Jim, and sister Karen, live in the Detroit area. I would certainly enjoy hearing from lost family members. My grandfather came to the U.S. from Novy Targ. That is now in southern poland, formerly (in his day) Austria.

I´m the daughter of Karl Gach, born in Münsterberg, now Southern Poland, in 1923. The region was called Schlesien, part of Germany. I mean to remember, that there is a Ludwig brother of my grandfather. I will try to find it out. The Polish name of Münsterberg is Ziebice. As far as I know do all the Gachs in Germany belong to one family and their origin is in Oberschlesien. Schlesien became Polish after the second worldwar. Would be nice to hear from you Ursula Rhauderwiek

Ursula, how wonderful to hear from you. I do not know very much about my grandfather and the family other than what I wrote in my original note. Thank you for providing such important details. I live in the Detroit area. Where do you live? I have family in the Philadelphia and Baltimore areas.

Hi Ronald, I´m living in East Frisia, North West Germany near the Dutch border. Parts of my family are living in Lüneburg near Hamburg and my grandmother Maria Gach lived in Weißenfels, formerly GDR German Democratic Republic. There wasn´t too much contact to this parts of family because of the Iron Curtain. Today I called a sister of mine to get a copy of the family tree. As far as I remember it dates back to 1750? If I hold it in my hands I´ll know more details. In 1994 my brother got a letter from: Vicky Gach 860 E.Anthony St. Carolina, I.A. 51401 She was interested in family history as well. Is she related to you?

Ursula,
Vicki contacted my father, Stanley, several years ago. My father died in 1995. Actually, we never did find out if Vicki was directly related. I have wanted to find and visit the place of my family's history for many years now. We have been American for 100 years, but we were German for one thousand before that. I told my sister of your letter. Please contact me again when you have the family history. I had a great grandfather Albrecht and a great great grandfather Macieg. I am not certain of the spelling.
I am going to have a few difficult days ahead. My youngest grandson (three months old) died on Monday morning and the remainder of the week will be spent with my family at his wake and then funeral. Please excuse me during this time. I will respond again this weekend when we have laid our dearest one to rest. I decided to read my mail to take my mind off our loss. You contacting me has helped a great deal.
Auf Wieder Sehen. Mein Deutsche ist nicht gut!
Ron
