I'm looking for info. on the Gabaree family from Milton Vt. My grandfather's name was Clinton Clyde (he went by his middle name). Clyde's siblings were (as far as I can tell) Lillian Mae, Carlyle and Ethel Laura. Clyde's dad was Orvis James and his mother was Jennie (Garron). Orvis' father was Charles and his mother was Julia (Mayville). Charles and Julia are buried at the Cath. Cem. in Milton. I have several pictures from Clyde's belongings. One of these has the name of a girl named Olive written on the back of the photo. I think her full name was Olive Eileen Gabaree and she was born in 1912.
Clyde moved to Bronx, NY and then Philadephia, PA. I think Carlyle lived at some point in Amherst, MA. One of his sisters was married and moved to Lyndon Center, Vt. or Windsor, Vt. I have never met anyone from the Gabaree clan.

I've been researching the Gabree/Gabaree/Gabry/Gabourie family in Vermont for a while and may have some info that would be helpful. Much of this is based on my review of VT census data from 1850 - 1930, so I wouldn't deem it to be 100% releiable.
I believe Charles George Gabree b. 28 Mar 1837 of Georgia, VT married Julia Mayville b. 1 Sep 1847 of Milton, VT in 1862. They had at least 11 children, including Orvis b. Apr 1867.
Charles parents were Joseph Francis Gabree b. 1 Jul 1795 in Canada and Mary Eliza[beth] Durivage b. between 1798 - 1808 in Canada. The two married abt 1828 and had at 14 children. I think Joseph F. and Mary E. were my 4ggrandparents. Joseph may have been previoulsy married to Mary Cartier, but its possible these were two separate individuals.
According to OneWorldTree, but unsubstantiated otherwise, Joseph's parents were Peter and Mary Gabaree of Canada.
The only Olive I have in my files in Olive F. or T. Gabree b. ~1913. She was the daughter of Sherry H. and Lauretta R. Gabree of Locke, Cayuga Cty, NY per the 1930 census. Olive and Sherry were both born in Vermont, however I haven't been able to connect Sherry to any other Gabree lines in Vermont.
I can provide more information if the above proves helpful.
Also, I'd be interested in any additional information you have on the Orvis James Gabree/Gabaree line (dates/sources). I'm trying to accumulate the most comprehensive list of our common surname.

Re: Gabaree/Gabry - Eli Francis
Hi Mike. What fun with the various spellings! I'm looking for more info on Eli Francis Gabry/Gabrey born ca 1857 in Vermont, moved to MA, south of Worcester, Married Sarah Frances Parkhurst (record not found), had children but I guess marriage not that great as not found together in census. He eventually moved to Gloucester MA with son Edward and died there after 1930. The birth record for his dau. Ada states that he was born in Morrisville VT (not found); the b. record for his dau. Lora states he was born in Fairfield VT. Can you shed any light on his parents? Also, in the 1920 census for Gloucester Eli has neighbors Victor Gabry age 54 born VT with wife Lizzie (Elizabeth) age 64 b. CAnada, William J. Gabry age 49 born NH with wife Henrietta H. age 50 born Denmark, and Walter F. Gabry age 25 born MA with wife Eva age 26 b. NH. Where they came from and where they went and what the relationship was, I have no clue yet.

Hey Mike, Sorry I haven't replied sooner as I haven't followed the thread in a while. Yes, what you've provided is helpful. I have a pdf with family tree info going back to France that was done for my dad years ago. I can include the file in this thread as it is not in the right format. I will try to email. Most of the information matches information gathered from a Canadian geneology website I reviewed a couple of years ago.
