Welcome; I am the moderator of the GABANY board, and am actively researching this line, as well.
I am seeking birthplace and parents of Jacob GABANY, emigrated to the U.S. about 1900. Lived most of his life in New Britain, CT. Married to Mary PETRUSKA (sp?). Children were Jacob Jr., Elizabeth, Mary, Stephen.

I am Laslo Gabany. Just to respond to your query. My grand father was born in Hungary. He told us that he had a brother who emigrates to US at the begining of the century. You may have other details please let me know?

I have much information on Gabanyi/Gabany family. Originally from Hethars, now Lipany, in Slovakia, some emigrated to the U.S., and others to Canada. The family was originally members of the nobility.
What was your grandfather's name?

I hope you still monitor this board! One of my Petruska great-aunts may be your Mary Petruska.
I've recently written to a couple Gabany families seeking information & didn't get replies from either.
Please contact me ASAP -- thanks!
