David sorry it took so long to reply but my job takes me out of town quite often. I am just getting started in my searchon the Gaba history so my information is very limited.I have a cousin her name is Judy Zervic who has been doing some research also, in fact i believe she may have talked to your father at one time. I have some information thru some software i purchased that lists some Gabayswho were in the civil war one of whom was Martin who fought on the side of the union also an Issac who fought on the side of the confederacy.Am not very knowlegable on the computer as of yet but I hope to improve with time. I have three brothers, my father passed away in march of 95. I was born in Ripley Tn. 1950 but I was raised in the chicago area.I will be talking to my cousin and Iwill pass along any info she might have. Are you still in the Jackson area?I did not know there were any other Gabas out there. Joe

My name is Teresa Gaba Cobb. My grandfather was Martin Francis Gaba. His father was John (or Joesph) Lafayette Gaba and his mother was Mary Susan. They both died in 1904 of yellow fever. Their children were William Robert, Charles, Jessie and my grandfather, Martin who was only four when they died.

I'd appreciate any information on the family of Charles, William or Jessie.

Surnames: Gaba
Joseph Lafayette Gaba was my great grandfather. I will be happy to share what I know. He and my great grandmother, Mary Susan Leggett, both died of yellow fever (I think) in 1904. Their children were adopted by members of Cypress Grove Methodist church and Pond Creek Methodist Church, both near Alamo, TN. Both Joseph Lafayette and Mary Susan Leggett are buried in Cypress Grove Methodist Church cemetary. My grandfather, Martin Francis Gaba and my father, John Gaba are buried at Pond Creek because a family who went to church there adoped my grandfather. My grandfather had brothers, Charles Raymond, William and Jesse, who were also adopted. You may know about them. My name is Teresa Gaba Cobb. I have traced Joseph Lafayette Gaba's family back to his great, great grandfather, Martin Gaby. The name changed with Joseph Lafayette for some reason, but oddly in Crockett County, TN where Joseph is buried, it's still pronounced Gaby.

I would love to hear from cousins, relatives, etc.
