Ethal Ostrom, My Gaard's originated from Talgie, Norway. They settled in Elmore, MN. His name was Tollak Knute Gaard. He had the following children: Isabell "Bell". Knute , Anna Tollaksdatter, Julia, Mary, Aseline, Cecilia . If any of these names look like they may connected to your Gaard's I would like to hear from you.

Hi! I'm the youngest son of Daniel Johan (Henriksoenn)Gaard, born 19 Feb.1964, and if it's of interrest i can provide you with information on that part of the tree. By the way Marta, Daniel Johan(my father 20 May.1921-27 March.1994)his wife: Kristine (Kitty)(born Rasmussen 22.Feb.1930-04.July.1996)Gaard. Gunnar Henrik. Einar and his brother Kaare Mikal are all dead. Only my aunt Klara (married Dahle) and my unckle Ole Kristian is alive on my father side. I'll be glad to help, i'm only a question away :-)

Ann, Just picked up your message. I would be very interested in any families that we might be related too. My husbands Great grandfather was Tollak Knute ("Torre-"Thomas") Gaard. He was born in Talgie, Norway on January 12, 1841. His parents were Knute and Gunvor Gaard. He served in the Norwegian standing army. He immigrated to America in 1875, first settling in Illinios and later in Elmore, MN, where he died in 1933. His son, Knute T. Gaard also immigrated to America with him. I,m very intested in tracing this family further in Norway, but so far have had no luck.
