My Great Great Grandparents, Johan Henrich & Sophia Dorothea Gollner came from Germany in 1845 to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have not yet found where in Germany they came from. I do know they came from the Kingdom of Hannover. I have been told that the Gollner family may have come from the village of Wietzen in the Kreis of Nienburg an der Weser. I understand that the Gollner name appears alot in this town. You can e-mail me at gclayton@chorus.net

Re: Gollner family location
The Gollner surname also appears frequently in the town of Jugenheim, Hessen-Darmstadt (Rheinhessen). I descend from the Gollner family there at least twice (and possibly more). I have my line documented back to Hans Peter Gollner (1638-1721) and his wife Ottilia ----- (1648-1722). I have notes showing marriages and burials of this family going back to the 1590's in that town though. I have more records coming soon and hope to be able to add to this family's record.

Re: Gollner family location
Would Gellner be part of that history? My mother told me that the name was Gollner in Germany.

Re: Gollner family location
I have not seen the spelling of Gellner in my family. Did your family live in Milwaukee?

Re: Gollner family location
No. Family in Ohio and WV who came from Germany. My mother said that the name was spelled with an 'o", but was changed to an 'e' somewhere along the line.

Re: Gollner family location
Hey cousins! Goellner descendant here. Yep, I thought it was Gelner (phonetic spelling), but my grandmother (her mother was a Goellner from Germany) corrected me. Not certain if mine landed in Wisconsin, but my Grandmother grew up in Chicago.

Re: Gollner family location
Are you related to the Raymond Arnold Clayton that married Bertha Zell Golliner from Darlington, Wisconsin? I'm helping to research the Golner, Golliner, Goldner, Gollner name.
Let me know...
Thank you, Lance

But those two- man and woman were my dad's great or great, great grandparents on my grandfather (Adolf Fuchs) mother's side. Any input would be appreciated. They came from Romania, Austria, Town of Hermannstadt. my granpa Fuchs lived in Michian and then to California. Would love to find some more family to give them some family papers and photos. Re: Gollner family location
My Goellner relatives came from Hesse Darmstadt but I am not sure if they were from Jugenheim. I have found records from the LDS films for this area. My GG was Jacob Goellner born 1831. I do not know his parents names or any siblings. He immigrated to New York and was Goellner in the 1860 and 1870 census. Later his surname changed to Gillen. He was married to a Catherine born 1858 also listed as being born in Hesse Darmstadt. Don't know her maiden name. Don't know if they were married in Germany or New York. Their first son George was born in 1852 or 1853 in Brooklyn, New York. Other children were: Catherine - b 1856, Frederick - b 1859, Gustav - b 1862, and I believe they had another child who died as a child. This is my brick wall. Any relation?
