Jacqueline must be my cousin. We have many cousins most of whom I don't know...the Fyfes travelled to the 4 corners of the globe after WW 11. My dad is Alan Fyfe, brother of Tom, Jim (James), Stan, Bill,etc......there were 14 in the family! Alan is the only one left standing at 91.

All I know of Jim was that he travelled around Australia working in all kinds of jobs...including shearer I believe...and, according to my dad, played soccer as an amateur for Australia. He died of cancer but I don't know where or at what age.

Hi Emma,

Is there any possibility of your Thomas Murray - Fyfe being the same one I am seeking. He was my grandfather, moved to Manchester from Aberdeen.

Hi Emma.

Your mother is daughter to James?

I know very little about the Fyfe side unfortunately. Thomas was my grandfather who I never met. He eventually lived in Manchester alone, irlam (spelling) his sons lived in Glossop not too far away in Derbyshire. In fact they still do.
My father graham Murray Fyfe is there and would possibly be interested in hearing from you.
I live in Australia so it seems the Fyfe trait of traveling its embedded in our blood.
With your permission can I pass on this to Graham?

Are you in the UK?

Mark

Hi.
Are there any of the relatives still in Australia? I live in Perth now, have lived in Melbourne and Sydney also. I have a relative in Qld from my grandmother's side. They have a wedding picture of Tommy and my Grandmother with Tommys mother in it.
No one knows how it got to Australia however, possibly Jim now you have mentioned it.

Tommy's sons live in Glossop (UK) still, my father graham would be interested in any communication. He knows very little as he did not see his father since he was about 10 years old. In fact we didn't know he lived in Manchester until he died in his flat in irlam, alone.

Hi Mark
My soon to be mother in law is James' daughter. She isnt great at researching the fyfes as they seem to be all over the world so im doing it.
I would love to hear from any fyfe family so please pass my information onto your family.
Me, my partner andy (Jackies son), Jackie and family are coming to Perth Australia on the 29th Sept 2012 to get married we are staying in Padbury and would love to meet up if you would like?
Im sure Jackie would love to meet members of her family as her mother and James died when she was 10.
James Fyfe worked in Adelaide (we think) on a sheep farm. He spent his time between Australia and the UK when Jackie was small. We thought he died in Australia but now think he may have died here in Surrey.
OK so I know James and Thomas Murrays parents were called James and Mary Fyfe (I have a photo of them) James worked as a merchant seaman and died at sea of appendititus. Leaving Mary to bring up 14 children alone in Aberdeen, 2 died very young and 1 called Jackie died at 5 years old.
I have since found some names of the 14 children they are James (my jackies father) Thomas Murray (your relative) Alan (still living in Aberdeen at 90 odd) another brother Fred and a sister Ruby.
I know 2 of Alans grandchildren live in Australia now 1 in Sydney and I think the other is in melbourne.
I know some of the brothers went to the States so its difficult and very confusing to trace.
I hope you understand what I have wrote and I am glad to of found another Fyfe.
Speak soon
Emma

Hi Emma

How fortunate and timely this is. I have in the past month moved from Sydney to Melbourne and now live back in Perth. I would love to meet you all.
My story also reflects a great deal of lost family ties and have my eldest son Fraser living with me here while my twin sons are in the UK now.
It seems us Fyfe's have a lot to answer for.
I have been here now for 8 years, living throughout most states. My job had taken me to many places and it seems now Australia is where I will be for the foreseeable future. It's not too bad!
Please pass on my warmest welcome to your family, I shall forward my contact details in my next mail. It is now quite late here

Regards

Mark Murray-Fyfe
