peter fydrych who lived in western PA and died in 1921

Classification: Query
Surnames: Fydrych, Fedora
my grandfather Peter Fydrych, was married to Marya sliwinska in Pittsburgh(Allegheny)PA, moved to Arnold City, Fayette cty, PA about 1920 and then was injured in a mining accident there and died shortly thereafter in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA in NOV. 1921. My grandmother was pregnant with my own mother when her husband died and my mother was later born on Dec. 4 1921. Two siblings showed up who claimed they were brother and sister of my grandfather Fydrych and took the body of my grandfather away to New York somewhere and my grandmother never heard from them again. Have searched every site for a Fydrych and even mailed letters to some old addresses in New Jersey but they were sent back unopened.
What makes the search more difficult is that when my mother and her sister(Stella and Edna) entered the Marion elementary school in Arnold City, PA by 1927, they were registered as Stella and Edna Fedora and NOT by Fydrych.
Two mysteries: what happened to my grandfather's body and who and where were his family---who were they? and also why did my mom and aunt have different last names from their father when my grandmother never remarried? There was no social security in those days and my grandmother died as a Slwinska.

The state of Pennsylvania has uploaded births in the year of 1906 and deaths for the years 1906 to 1961+. The link to the searchable indices can be found at:
http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/pub...
Also at this webpage is an explanation of how to obtain non-certified copies of the birth or death certificate for $3 per copy. The link for the form that should be used to request certificates can also be found on this webpage. Go down almost to the bottom where the link is to the PDF form you can print and mail in. Look for the words "download the death application form”.

These records are grouped in alphabetical order in some years and in soundex order in other years. To determine the soundex code for the surname that you are searching you can go to the link at:
http://searches.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/Genea/soundex....
Some names are alpha by first name. Those names are part of the soundex years of the death indices. You can determine the soundex code of the surname then look in those years under the soundex code by first name.

Searchers have experienced the indices, which are in a PDF format, slow to load. Be patient if at first it appears that the indices are not loading. To understand what the soundex system is and how it is used you can go to:
