Hi Kim, Thanks for getting back to me. I've just come off the 'phone to my Mother. Apparantly, it seems that my Father has also had the idea of 'Fyall hunting', and has a pile of info he is going to send me. I will of course forward it to you....hopefully it will be of some use in your search. I was born in Perthshire, Scotland in 1964. My Mothers' maiden name was Meldrum and she came from a nearby vilage of Burrelton in Angus. They are both near Glamis Castle, Birnam Wood, Dunstinane, and Scone Palace, so the area is fairly intense in history. My Grandfather on my Fathers side married into the Dargie family iun Ardler Village. He came from Dundee, and as all Fyalls came from Fife. We apparantly originated in France, and came over around the time of 'Bonnie Prince Charlie', which puts it about 1745. Fyalls took the side of the English and fought with the 'Red Fox' (Colin Campbell..the head of the Campbell Clan, and an English supporter)against the Scottish at The Battle of Culloden Moor. From there we fractioned, but continued to stay in and around Fife, and as you have already found out, St Monance. My Mothers Uncle (a Meldrum)left Scotland in the 50's and emigrated to Canada. His extended family still live in Ottowa. I hope we can keep in touch,

Seeking connections re Mary Fyall b. 1821 St. Monance. Parents John Fyall/Elspeth Duncan. Mary married 1. David Hutt; 2. Alexander Forgan. Appears both husbands were her cousins. Happy to share data. Margot Knowles, Mackay, Qld. Australia.

Have you Seen Dave Ravie's web site? I think that your Mary is mentioned on it. the address is www.ravie.freeserve.co.ukGo to the genealogy link, then the surnames list and find the Fyall link. They are all there in alphabetical order. I am descended from the tree as well, from one of Mary's uncles, Alexander.

Thanks for reply. Yes, have contacted Dave direct. My connection to Fyall through FORGAN lines. Both surnames connect in different generations. Best wishes. Margot.
