Friths (& similar surnames) transported to Colony of Virginia 1637-1686

Many Friths and Thrifts whose families are from Virginia, USA, aspire to trace back to Richard Frith, gentleman, who accompanied Capt. John Smith to Jamestown in 1607. However there is little documentation from the early years of VA, so the only hope of doing this would be by DNA testing -IF we could identify Richard Frith's family in England and test them too. I hope at least we can use DNA testing to find out how many different families of Friths there are, even if we can't connect them all. That would be a start; surely it will help many families connect to a patriarch, and unite many groups who aren't aware of a connection.

Actually, the odds are that FEW IF ANY of the Friths from Virginia descend from Richard Frith of Jamestown, since so many Friths were transported in the 1600's. What follows are entries mentioning ~30 Friths (or similar surnames) transported to the colony of Virginia between 1637 & 1686. This is a preliminary version, provided by Sarah Grantham. (This was a LOT of typing! Thanks Sarah! There may be errors & omissions; before quoting you should check the original.)
