My husband is a Friis and his mother still lives in Hamburg. We have his father, Carl Gerhard Friis traced back to a Hans ? Friis born in Denmark whose son George Hansen Friis was born in Denmark (but we do not know where). Georg Hansen Friis moved down to Muelheim an der Ruhr in Germany and married Catharina Luise Schmitz. Their son, (Georg/Jorgen) Wilhelm Ferdinand Friis ws born 1835 in Muelheim and married Helene Haardt. Their son Gerhard August Friis born 1873 in Muehlheim and married a Clara Zothner born 1878 in Stettin and they moved to Hamburg where my husband's grandfather, Walter Gerhard Friis was born in 1902. Do any of these names sound familiar to any other Friis out there? How do I go about trying to find out where in Denmark his Friis ancestors were born? thanks for any help you can offer. B Friis
