Can any one shed any light on my grand parents on my dads side of the family. My dad Arthur John wicksey was born in may 1930, he had a sister called Mary who married and died in the 1980s.

I understand that my dads mom ivy Fream passed away when my dad was young and the only other thing I know is that she was from Wales Pontypridd I think.
Possible FRAME / FREAM & Var. Surname Connections

Research into the origins of the FRAME surname has revealed it was almost certainly influenced by Osulf fil Frame (or Frane), Lord Belvoir du Plessis, thegn to King Edward the Confessor. The surnames DE FRAMÉ and LE FRESNE (pron. Frane) were found in Calvados, Normandy, less than 70 miles apart. Each was even nearer to Le Plessis-Grimoult, the fortification last held by Osulf’s son, Grimoult du Plessis, in 1047. The proximity is close enough to suggest a shared provenance between these families in Normandy, and for this reason the FRAME DNA PROJECT has been extended to include the surnames:-

DE FRAMÉ, FRAEME, FRAHM, FRAIM, FRAIME, FRAM, FRAME, FRAMINGHAM, FRAMLINGHAM, FRAMPTON, FRAMSDEN, FRAYM, FREAM, FREAME, FROAM, DE FRAINE, DE FREYNE, FRAIN, FRANE, FRANEY, FRAYN, FRAYN, FREAN, FREEN, FREENEY, FRENEY, FRESNE, FREYNE, or any other variants thought to have evolved from these names.

The aim is to use Y-DNA testing to determine which of the variant surnames relate to a common ancestor. DNA testing for genealogy purposes is more economical through a surname DNA project such as this, rather than as an individual. Any males by natural descent carrying any of the above surnames or variants are most welcome to join the Frame DNA project.

Further information on Osulf fil Frame and/or DNA testing may be obtained at: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/f/frame/

Best regards,

Julie Frame Falk
Gordon Hamilton
Frame DNA Project
Co-Administrators
Early Freams

Hi Karen!
Just to be on the safe side, I checked the IGI and there are no Freams in Ireland at the time you are looking for them. With one dubious exception, all the Freams were in a small part of Gloucestershire, around Stroud. Whilst not being an expert on emigration to the States, I would suggest you try to find the name of the ship your ancestor sailed over on (it's likely to be from Bristol). If you already have concrete names and dates, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

Regards,

David Farmery

Hello,
I was raised by my mother's cousin and her husband who was Edward John (Ted) born in Glouchester England and came to Alberta Canada in the late 1800's. He came with a brother Sidney Philip Fream and a sister Elizabeth.
They settled in Innisfail NorthWest Territories of Canada (which became the province of Alberta in 1906). Would really like to find some background on the family in England.
If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.
P.S. I am going to England shortly and will try to find something in the record offices in London.
Pat
Re: FREAMs

Hi:

I am researching the Fream line as well.
My Grandfather IS Robert Sherbert, his mother was Luella Fream, her father was Robert Fream. HIS FATHER WAS:
Andrew Fream was born in Pennsylvannia in 1829. His parents where both born in Pennsylvannia. Andrew Fream married Edaline born in Kentucky in 1822. Edaline’s Father was born in Virginia, Her Mother was born in Kentucky.Andrew Fream and Edalines Children are as follows:
Elizabeth dob: 1843 Missouri
John dob: 1849 Iowa
Ellen dob: 1853 CA
Jane dob: 1855 Missouri
Robert dob: 1856 Missouri MARRIED TO: AMY TUL,TAYLOR
Nannie dob: 1858 Missouri
Ike dob: 1860 Missouri
Nellie dob: 1862 Missouri

Andrews Fream main occupation was that of a Stock trader. The boys John & Ike followed in his steps.
They obviously moved around. as John was born in Iowa, and Ellen in California.

Their is a Fream listed as living in California at the same time as Ellen was born. Perhaps a brother to Andrew.

Our Lineage continues through Robert Fream.

Robert Fream is listed as living in Umatilla County in Oregon state during the 1900 Census taken in Valley Precinct (Milton Free water.) Where he married Amy Tul, Taylor.
Robert Fream only had one child a little girl Luella Fream. They adopted a boy I can't remember his name right now I have it written down somewhere. I know that we have relatives in California But don't know how everyone is connected yet. I would love to hear from you. Thanks
Karen, we have corresponded in the past about our mutual relatives. In April I had to go to California because my daughter suffered a life threatening health issue and I dropped out of the picture. I had to stay there for six months to help take care of her. When I got back in September I tried to connect with you using your e-mail address but it kept coming back saying that the addressee was unknown. Please let me know if you get this because I have additional information about the family narrative that you sent to me. I have documentation about the early Fream men and marriages.

For Karen and David
My sister, Adele Payerle, (apayerle@hotmail.com) has been researching the Freams from NY city/NJ and has data (birth, death, pension, burial etc)from the mid-late 1700s to current. Contact her and she may be able to fill in some gaps. I agree that the Freams came from Scotland down near the center of the British Isle. She has a map of the area. The William Fream she is tracking had a brother John plus many other siblings. (They must be like rabbits). Adele would be very interested in the letter Karen has. It appears that they all resided in the NY metro area, but they sometimes left the fold. Michigan ???

I wonder if your Freams may be connected to mine? I don't seem to find the name much anywhere. I have a written narrative from a great great aunt that mentions a John Fream who came from Ireland and settled in New York City in 1700. He had a son and grandson both supposedly named John. The last John settled in Lodi Township in Michigan. This John had a wife Catherine, a daughter Catherine and a son George Washington who also settled in this area in Michigan. I have located some of the graves but not much else in the way of leads.
